Lightweight Aluminum Body

Lightweight aluminum creates an ascender you’ll never leave behind. At only 240 grams/8 ounces, you won’t even notice this ascender on your harness. Whether climbing, ascending a fixed photo-line, hunting or performing arborist work, lighter is always better.

UIAA & CE Certification

UIAA Certification ensures your gear is manufactured to the highest quality standards. UIAA is the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (in its native language, the Union Internationale des Associations d’Alpinisme). This standards body seeks to ensure all climbing gear that bears its logo meets its rigorous test standards. All Danger Buddies ascenders are both UIAA and CE certified.

Insert Rope into Rope Channel

Pull back on the cam lever in the direction shown to retract the cam. The lever can be used to latch the cam in the open position to simplify loading the rope (as shown in the image). While in the open position, insert the rope into the rope channel. The arrow on the rear of the ascender shows the proper “this side up” direction.

Engage Cam & Add Carabiner

Engage the cam by moving it in the direction shown by the arrow. Verify the teeth of the cam are engaged with the rope. The rope must be between 8.0mm and 12.0mm and properly rated for the application. Never use a rope outside this size range, as the cam teeth may fail to engage it. Install a carabiner into the larger slot in the ascender to prevent the rope from accidentally coming out of the rope channel during use.

Attach Accessories

The lower attachment holes can be used to tether the ascender to your harness, attach a footloop or etrier and attach other accessory items such as the Danger Buddies CameraBuddy photography bag. Use one or more locking carabiners to securely attach these items.

Ascend the Rope

To ascend the rope, slide the ascender up the rope, then weight it to lock it into place. Tighten your backup device to remove all slack in the system, then repeat. Always slide the ascender up the rope ahead of your body as you ascend. Never climb above an ascender. Falling from above an ascender causes extreme forces on the ascender. (Note: Image is illustrative; never attach two climbers to one ascender.)
