JJC Black Diffusion 1/4 Filter is especially designed for digital cinematography and video, suitable for video recording, portrait photography, interview, commercial advertisement and more occasions. It helps to reduce the value of the highlights while softening the overall contrast, creating a slightly reduced pearlescent halo around highlights that looks like it was taken with high quality vintage lens. The filter works great for smoothing out unwanted blemishes, wrinkles or other details in a subject’s face while keeping the general image in focus to further enhance a subject’s appearance and produce a desired effect. It can also used to create photos with nostalgic effect as well as dreamy and hazy effect.

Constructed from professional AGC HD optical glass with 28-layer coatings, the filter is anti-glaring and effectively reduces reflection from both the ground and the filter itself, ensuring less than 0.5% ultra-low reflectivity. It is water-resistant, anti-scratch, anti-fingerprint, anti-static and oil–resistant. Measuring only 0.14″/3.5mm in thickness, the aircraft-grade aluminum alloy filter frame is durable and lightweight. It is slim enough to prevent vignetting when using with wide-angle and telephoto lenses.

Comes with a protective case for filter, the case is made of high quality PC material, sturdy and durable. Inside silicone ring protects filter away from dust, moisture and water splashing. A packet of desiccant silica gel included can also absorb the moisture from box, keeps the filter dry and clean. The filter case is easily to open and close with ergonomic locking system. It not only provide better protection to filter, but also makes filter more convenient for storage and carrying out.

User notes:

1. Black diffusion filter is more suitable at darkness with light than using in the day

2. The halo will be more obvious around the point light or strong light.

3. Comparison:

ND filter reduces the amount of light entering the lens, the effect is for the whole image and not just for the part.Black diffusion filter softens the strong light and improves light in dark place, reduces contrast ratio for image.White diffusion filter softens the light of whole image and not just for the part, the details of image are blurry after using and the clarity is worse than black diffusion filter.

4. The front of this black diffusion filter is able to accept other types of filters , but vignetting may occur on some wide angles.

5. Not affect the use of a lens hood.
